The Role

At BELA, our School (Aide) Culture Associates play an essential role in our community, working closely with families, students, and colleagues to foster a positive school environment.

Essential Job Functions

 

  • Behavioral Support & Intervention: Collaborate with families and staff to address behavioral concerns, including in-classroom issues and rule violations, using social-emotional learning and/or restorative principles and practices. Maintain precise records of student behavior and incidents, utilizing this data to develop targeted interventions and student incentives to foster a positive school environment.
  • SmartPass Administration: Serve as the secondary contact for the digital hall pass system inquiries and issues. Assist with managing student and staff entries or removals. Act as the primary responder to teacher reports concerning student behavior or violations through SmartPass. Provide support in generating weekly SmartPass reports.
  • Leadership Academy: Assist in ensuring the smooth running of the Leadership Academy across all grades by providing necessary materials and supplies for the LA program and conducting restorative circles within Leadership Academy as required. Conduct weekly classroom pop-ins to offer support and assess adherence to the grade-level LA curriculum.
  • Attendance System Support: Assist with daily attendance monitoring, collaborate with teachers to ensure accuracy, and liaise with families regarding attendance-related matters. Support in analyzing attendance data for the development of interventions and reporting purposes.
  • Daily Operations and Event Support: Assist in facilitating smooth student arrivals, transitions between classes, and dismissals, with a special focus on maintaining order during lunchtime and in hallways. Collaborate in the planning and execution of school-wide events to ensure their successful operation.
  • Summer Commitments: Function as an Enrichment Teacher and Field Trip Lead for the BELA EmpowerMEnt Summer Program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated training in social-emotional learning and/or restorative principles and practices.
  • A strong understanding of social and emotional issues affecting youth.
  • At least three years of direct experience working with youth in underserved communities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using technology for administrative tasks, including experience with student management software, Google Drive, and basic information management.

Working Conditions

  • This is a 12-month position.
  • Hours of Work: 8:00 am - 4:45 pm; occasional evening, weekend and overnight work required.

Benefits and Salary
Salary for this position is $45,000 - $55,000 depending on prior experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package including: extended holiday breaks, weekly professional development, daily catered lunch, ample planning time, Apple MacBook Air, and an innovative collaborative culture.
